So, the site is up, well not that many people know about it but www.opencaptions.com is alive and kicking. Currently few know and I’m really looking for a group of people to test with, but anyone is able to register and add captions. I’m excited and can’t wait to actively promote the site.

This weekend I will be working on the collaborative captioning features for the site. Basically, one user should be able to invite another person to add captions as a team. Captioning is fantastic when finished but it’s really time consuming, on average I would say captions take about 3 times the length of the video, so a 12 minute video will take 36 minutes. So anyway to break up the process, share the work will definitely encourage more people to give captioning a try.
